Cherhill White Horse

Cherhill White Horse, Calne, Wiltshire | Keepfocused creative art and travel photography | Digital artCherhill White Horse is located at Cherhill near Calne in Wiltshire.

Carved out of the chalk hills in 1780 under the instruction of Dr. Christopher Alsop, it is one of 8 visible chalk horses in Wiltshire.
The obelisk to the right of the horse is The Lansdowne Monument, erected in 1845 by the 3rd Marquis of Lansdowne to commemorate his ancestor Sir William Petty. It stands 125 feet tall.

My photo was taken on a lovely bright, but cold, afternoon one February with a sprinkling of snow still lingering.
